Extension to Kenwood House, Maidstone: For the Kenward Trust

Kenward House is a rehabilitation facility for people with drug and/ or alcohol dependency. The work of the Trust has been highly successful, resulting in a requirement to extend and modernise.

As this is a Listed Building with considerable restraints on any alterations, extensive discussion was required with the council before planning was granted and during the construction.

A new extension was built at the rear to accommodate 18 bedrooms, new reception and office. Photovoltaic, solar heating and rainwater harvesting were incorporated into the development and a new external boiler room was built to house a biomass boiler using reclaimed pallets as fuel.
