Refurbishment and extension of surgery: Acton, London

The original surgery occupied the ground floor of the main building and over spilled into a single storey extension. The upper floors accommodated a separate flat accessed from what is now the main surgery entrance.

The brief was to maximise the site, converting the whole building to surgery use and building a two storey side extension.

The internal layout was dramatically altered with a central column replacing many of the ground floor walls giving an open feel to the reception area. A new staircase rises from the reception to the first and second floors with a fire escape stair at the rear providing escape from the upper two floors.

The accommodation comprises five consulting rooms, two treatment rooms, plus reception and offices.
